Who was the last person to utter, “I will not accept charity.”

Heat-seeking beartraps surround the truth.

So, know this, future superstar hopeful: It’s easier to play in the NBA than to have a successful showbiz career.

No matter how you grew up, who wouldn’t want to be part of the upper crust or, to put it another way, what American musician wouldn’t want to be referred to as sir?

As the old song goes, “You only hurt the ones you love, the ones you shouldn’t hurt at all.” 🙁  Nobody else gives a shit.

Do arrogant people tolerate the arrogance of others?

So, Mr. Prez, how long are you gonna let the folks who were busted for pot stay in prison and do slave labor?

  1. Jed Duval: Oh, Wise Sage and Observer George: Part of the problem about giving amnesty to those serving time for marijuana arrests is that both federal and state laws are involved, so the President can issue a federal executive order pardoning those who are incarcerated on federal drug charges regarding pot possession, but, for example, will Mr. Pudding-Fingers of Florida pardon those same convicts and legalize pot (with the consent of local law enforcement and the Florida legislature) ? That, my dear mentor, is the confounded problem AND the beautify of our multi-layered state and federal system. Just because a politician caterwauls and moans about fixing something, it takes a majority of 437 members of the House, a majority of 100 members of the Senate, the assent of the President (in most cases), and then the hurdles of the challenges in the courts after it becomes “law”. Then, the branches of the Armed Forces have to figure out how to deal with the pot problem that has been around since the 1940s! Similarly, then the states have to reset the state codes. Believe me, many members of the Indiana General Assembly would love to get lobbyists’ money to legalize “pot”ential possession and pot storefronts across the Hoosier state…but every state will be different, just like Ohio and its 3.2-beer. Even though immigration is constitutionally a federal issue, we now have state governments (Texas and Florida) claiming that their state governments can supersede and over-rule the federal government. Of course, who gets rich in all this legal tango ? The legislators’ friends, the governor’s friends, the lobbyists’ law firms (who draft the legislation), etc., etc., etc. Indiana is still dealing with the bribery fallout over casinos and gambling (including the conviction of a man who once very recently represented my district in the Indiana Senate but Terre Haute’s casino (!?!) will open on April 5th…I bet you can hardly wait !!!!!) In 1964- 1965, there was a TV series entitled “Slattery’s People” about local politics, starring Richard Crenna (“Our Miss Brooks”, “The Real McCoys” and “Rambo”), Ed Asner. Tol Avery, Kathie Browne and Maxine Stuart. The program began with a narrator: “Democracy is a very bad form of government. But I ask you never to forget: All the others are so much worse !” Of course, for those of you in the Great North of Manitoba, the Canadian version was “Quentin Durgens, M.P.”! 3/27/24
Geo: I just find it very convenient, Jed that those who run the prisons today get to use these non-violent criminals as cheap labor to manufacture stuff. Strang how the president always manages to free the real bad guys but everyone else is complicated. 🙁
