I’d sure like to know what African Americans think about all the pandering that goes on in Hollywood for them.
You know, in all the action movies, the president is always black, the secretary of defense is a black female, as is the Admiral who has been called to the Whitehouse to save the world., The mayor and the police chief of the city in crisis are also black.

Hell, you’d think they’d throw in the odd Asian, Hispanic, or Native American just for variety sake.
Also, why is there always a black guy hanging out with a bunch of white dudes at a cowboy bar?

Oh, and of course, there’s always a good-lookin’ black couple barbequing with white folks or having fun on a cruise with white folks. 
I remember the days when they used to show black guys married to white women, which was quite a shock, but now they’ve switched to white guys with black wives. However, in reality, I suspect that there are more white guys married to Asians than Black ladies.

Have you noticed how excited the media gets when a black guy scores a goal in the NHL or wins a swimming event, a car race, scoring a goal in a Polo match, a skiing or snowboarding event, a tennis tournament, a skateboard contest, an Equestrian outing, a golf tournament, a gold medal in skating, winning a stage in the Tour De France, or an Oscar?

Oh, and how come the TV commercials that target black folks don’t need white people in them?
How could all this pandering possibly help anything? Asking for a friend. 🙂

@NatHumphrey: Good morning! The French are permanently pissed that English became the global lingua franca and French didn’t. This, to me, is what we interpret as apparent “arrogance”. One of many examples I can offer is my sending a little drawing over to the official Picasso authentication committee both in English and French (out of courtesy) for their review. Months later, their response came back in French, knowing damn well I’d have to fire up my translation software to read it. (2/29/24)

@TimMoore: As a former and proud Navy man, let’s remember “Midway,” where the heavily favored Japanese task force lost FOUR Aircraft Carriers and thousands of men after being ambushed by Admiral Chester Nimitz and his Carrier Genius Admiral Raymond Spruance. The Navy’s intel people in Hawaii broke the Japanese code; thus, as heavy underdogs, our Navy aviation and “ship drivers” destroyed the Soru, Hiryu, Kagi, and Akagi over the course of THREE days! Japan was finished as a Naval power, only to be further decimated at Leyte Gulf three years later (despite Bill Halsey’s errors). (3/20/24)
