In honor of my daughter Candis’s birthday this week, I proudly post this week’s blog.

Most people who read my blog know that I detest the word ‘NO,’ but then again, I’m starting to come around to the possibility that ‘NO’ may also have a positive side.
Hey, I know a few creative people who didn’t even get started until they heard the word ‘No,’ like my brother Reg.

When he was going around the country introducing his Rewards Program to the radio industry, he already knew the answer was ‘No.’
He told me that the only reason he even went into the meeting was to find out why.

Randy Michaels agreed with me but said he hated the word ‘CAN’T’ even more.
Randy’s response reminded me of a special dinner I attended a few years ago with my Daughter Candis at Camp Pendleton in California.

After the dinner, the Company Commander got up and addressed us by saying, “We are supposed to be the toughest people in the world, but I have to confess something.
I do not have one Marine in this camp that can do what you people will do tomorrow morning.”

“Hell,” he said, “I even ran the San Diego Marathon a few weeks ago just to experience some of what you will be going through.
It was a very tough run, and I only finished because I had to face all of you here today.”

It’s almost impossible, he said, for me to fathom you’re running the same 26 miles I did after swimming 2 1/2 miles in the ocean and a 116-mile bike ride.
Good luck and Godspeed, and with that, he stepped down, and as he did so, all I could think was, “Hey, wait a minute, if a Marine can’t do this, then how the hell is my little girl going to do it?”

But do it, she did, and now Candis is an Ironman forever more.
She wanted to do it because she was repeatedly told she couldn’t do the Ironman without training for several years.

And oh yeah, it’s called the Ironman, not the Irongirl little lady, yet, in less than a year, here we are.
The words ‘Cant’ and ‘No’ are tough to overcome, but once defeated, they tend to produce exciting life-changing results.

Happy birthday, little girl. xoxo (Candis is pictured on top during the bike portion of the Ironman and with her medal at the finish line below.)

GEO’S LIFE-LINERS

Does America want a politically correct Rush Limbaugh or Howard Stern on the radio? I think not.

Why do the New Yorkers think leaning on their horns will make something good happen?

I wonder if the black community has figured out yet that the more illegals the Democrats welcome to America, the less important they will be.

I feel sorry for the opening acts of Superstars cuz if you’re not as good or better than the winners of, The Voice, American Idol, or  Xfactor. Yawn!

Have you ever noticed that when a company starts becoming successful, the price goes up, and the service goes down? (Uber and Amazon)

No doubt Caitlyn has a lot more class than Angel.
I wonder why the extreme liberals are more upset with the rights of LGBT than they seem to be.

I read somewhere that blonde women earn 7% more than other women. Now how dumb is that?

One of your worse days will be the day the trio, ‘woulda,’ ‘shoulda,’ and ‘coulda’ show up.

In the ’60s, CEOs made 20 times as much as their regular employees; today, they make 350 times as much. What’s wrong with this picture?

I wonder if Santa ever gets pissed about never receiving gifts?

When will a white comedian have stones big enough to make fun of Black folks as they do of Whites?

Most men can do without women if they don’t love them. Is it the same for women?

Speaking of love, did anybody ever understand John and Yoko?

Is it true that when you reach 50, you never change your mind again?

Doing the right thing is never wrong.

You don’t need a lot of talent to become popular.

The only way to take back the power is by forgiving.

Neutering is overrated; it’s all about genetics.

Even though black folks represent less than 15% of America, why do they seem to appear in 50% of the movies? Where the hell are the Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans?

I wonder why the liberals are more upset with the rights of LGBT than they seem to be.

Things may get easier, but they’ll never get easy.

So what’s worse, what happened to the American Indians, the Japanese Americans, the Irish Americans, the Black Americans, the Mexican Americans, or the Jews? According to Media, it’s the Black Americans. We may need a recount.

There’s nothing special about being different unless you do something special with it.

With change comes consequences.

Your life begins the moment you want it to.

Sales folks are the best when they get to sell what they consume.

You’re never aware of a magic moment till it becomes a memory.

COMMENTS

Larry Macinnis: Hey, George. I’ve been lucky with Sales, I guess. I had (and still have) the great pleasure of working with salespeople who understand and respect the creative process and facilitate great relationships between sales and programming and sales and creative/production.
Much of that is a result of the CHUM culture I grew up in, but even today, most of the stations I work with have salespeople who can work for the station and the client simultaneously. Keep up the great work, George; I look forward to your posts and enjoy them very much. (Sales Savages)
Geo: Thanks for the read, Larry, but as you’re probably aware after reading my blog, I obviously wasn’t as lucky as you. 🙂

  1. Wendy Holmes: George, your daughter Candis is definitely in possession of “true grit” which is a quality that we women should strive for! I can’t help but think that she possibly inherited that from you. Take care George! (Iron Woman)
Geo: She out did her dad long ago, Wendy.
