Trying to keep “Guitars Radio & Wild Wild Women” from becoming longer than “War and Peace” I was forced to edit all forty nine chapters twice.
While editing the chapter called “It Was A Very Good Year” I came to the realization that had Lana Johns written this I think it would have read a whole lot differently.
I went into great detail about how life changing 1964 was for me, I got a recording contract, released my first record, began my radio career, saw the Beatles for the first time, plus I got married.
I’m pretty sure Lana’s version of the same year would have spent a little more time on the actual wedding rather than only mentioning it as I did. She probably would have gone into a little more detail about how it all turned out after a whole year planning and most likely wouldn’t of had enough room to mention much of anything else.

SOME OTHER ABSTRACT THOUGHTS TO THINK ABOUT…

Speaking of weddings, have you ever noticed that when the author is male, the hero’s wedding is near the middle of the book whereas if it’s a book written by a female it’s at the end.

Why is it that once you confess your love the unusual places you used to make love, come off the do again list.

Wow James Bond is 85. (Sean Connery)

Why would a politician announcing that they are a Republican or a Democrat have any bearing on whether or not you think they’re a decent human being.

Good memories are the greatest gift one could ever receive.
It’s always easy to balance the budget if you don’t have the power to do so.

The only problem with having Daughters is that when they’re around you can’t speak freely, but maybe that’s a good thing. 🙂

A PD’s job first goal is to figure out how to get new people to listen to their radio station as well as getting those who to listen longer and more often. You can worry the rating methodology after you complete your first mission.

You have to be stupid when you’re young, you can’t afford to be smart.

My folks believed everything that the government told them but I sure don’t. I wonder what the hell happened!

Creativity can be used in many ways, for example If you really want to do something you’ll create a way to do, it but if you don’t, you’ll create an excuse.

Color me dumb but I’ve never figured out the significance of someone holding two fingers ears over a person’s head kinda like rabbit ears as the picture is being snapped.

We appreciate a little scolding from friends but from others it’s called insolence.

The need for money has so much power that  it can actually change how we view morality. What say you about this Mr. Pope.

My brother Reg and I were both much more successful than our Father ever was, but neither of us is a better man.

Show Business is built on the “Star System” Hollywood has movie stars, TV has TV stars, Broadway has stage stars, and Record Companies have Superstars and we know all their names. The only stars in radio though must be the owners because they’re the only names we know. Hows that working for us.

The amount of people that you have helped become successful is just another way of measuring your own success.

It is very difficult to cheat an honest man.

By ruining the life of the person responsible for most of your troubles you would end up ruining your own life.

The joy that it even happened far outweighs the sadness that it had to end.

After writing this blog for a couple of years and also attempting to write a book I’ve finally figured out that it’s a hell of a lot easier to drink like Hemingway than it is to write like him.

A lot of pain but also success comes from not knowing your place.

How would we amuse ourselves if famous people didn’t screw up.

Speaking of famous people there’s always a little money left in the budget for them but then again maybe not so much in radio.

It’s much easier to manage what it is rather than what you imagine it is.

As I write this I have just finished up visiting Bob & Jan in LA and also the Hilliard’s in San Jose where unfortunately they all had me on full feed!
