Hey
Who Dat baby
Yeah,it looks
like a man.

In chapter XLVIII, I was writing about going to LA for my daughter’s wedding.
Now here I am, nine months later, flying back for the birth of my grandson.

After checking into the Marriot in Burbank, I received a surprise phone call from the expectant mother.
She’d called to tell me she was coming to my hotel to have dinner with me.

This was a bit of a surprise because I knew that her Doctor was planning on inducing labor early the next morning.
However, I loved having dinner with her, and when we were done, she had another surprise for me. She wanted me to take her back to work.

She claimed that she had one more thing to do before she could give birth but both Charlie and her mom had refused her request.
They said, “Enough of work already; you need to focus on becoming a mother.”

Well, seeing as Candis has never heard no from me, I wasn’t about to start now, so off we go.
After arriving at the Warner Brothers office, she immediately disappears into her office, leaving me to wander around and look at all the gold records and posters hanging on the walls. How cool was that?

A few minutes later, when she came out of her office, she had a box set of CDs in her hand.
Then when she handed them to me, she said, “Dad, your grandson is going to be so proud when he discovers that his grandfather was a Rock Star.”

The collection was entitled “Nuggets II,” and it contained a track called “Who Dat?” by The Jury, which we’d recorded a few months before Candis was born. (The box set is pictured on top)

Early the next morning, I headed to the hospital, but when the induced labor thing didn’t go well, they went the cesarean route.
As the Doctor said to me, “Mr. Johns, your daughter is much too tiny to be giving birth to this big guy.”

Thankfully, all went well, and before long, I was welcoming my beautiful grandson into the world. (Pictured below with his mother and me)Seeing as Candis had her Mom and Charlie helping, I returned to Florida to tell Aunty Cami about her nephew, Nathaniel.
When I picked her up at school the next day, I quickly brought her up to speed about Nathaniel and the surprise gift Candis had given me.

When I asked if she would like to hear it, she excitedly said yes, so I popped it into the player and cranked it up.
As Terry’s thundering fuzz guitar filled the car with sound, I began to sing along but was interrupted by Cami tapping me on my shoulder.

When I turned it down to ask what she wanted, she asked if the song was almost over, and When I asked why, she said, “Because it’s not very good, Daddy!”
