  1. They should be called station songs George. Never jingles! Heller’s material was so original and cool. Dick Hamilton was a major part of Heller’s radio station branding songs. Dick also wrote the “You” package for TM as well as several others TM packages.

    • I think they stand the test of time Doug. Dick actually created the “You” package for Fairwest AC. Jim Hilliard wouldn’t let me help Jim West out with it because he didn’t want me distracted. He wanted my undivided attention on all the Fairbanks stations. When I went on my own and created “Class FM” Jim cut a deal with me to consult his stations seeing as they were both the same format. The deal then was when you signed up for Fairwest AC the “You” package was included. Later on when I got “Class FM” up and running I would hook my clients up with Jim and he would sell the package to them.
Later on, Hugh Heller and I created a very neat package where Hugh would find singers who could mimic the singers in the current hit songs so we’d get to slip the call letters of the local station plus the city so you actually had Michael Jackson singing about you and your town. How fucking cool was that? It sounded real good on the air but ended up being much too expensive to continue.
